David T Burke, MD, MA, is Professor and Chairman of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine. He is also the founding Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre, USA-478. He is one of the founding faculty members of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Harvard and served as the program director of the residency training program from 1994 to 2007.
Dr. Burke is the director of the Brain Injury Clinic at Emory and has been chosen by his peers as one of Atlanta Top Docs for four consecutive years. He serves on several institutional boards, now serving as Chairman of the Board at Emory of the Rehabilitation Hospital Network, Chair of the Clinical Integration Committee, Comprehensive Neuroscience Center Steering Committee, Credentials & Medical Executive Committee, and Rehabilitation Medicine Grand Rounds Committee. He is an Associate Editor of the American Journal of PM&R and is a founding member and Associate Editor of the Journal of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Burke is editor-in-chief and founder of Rehab in Review, which is now the most widely read publication internationally globally in the field of Rehabilitation.
Dr. Burke has more than 100 publications, and multiple invited presentations. He is nationally and internationally recognized for his educational contributions to the field as well as his research into understanding the mechanisms and the environmental/chemical influences on the functional outcomes of patients with injuries to the brain.
