Research Objectives: T inform the audience of the steps Emory took to Create the only World Health Organization collaborating Center, to inform the audience of the next great healthcare crisis, and the Emory Rehabilitation Departments steps to assess the preparedness of the Bahamas
Design: We obtained an outline of pertinent topics and sources of informaiton from the WHO. We obtined information from multiple sources before our deployment to assess the current state of the Bahamas. We assessed the healthcare delivery system, the financial capability of the Bahamas to pursue excellence, The education systems ability to train the healthcare providers of the future
Setting: On SIte visit with The Healthcare and Education ministers of the island,, their staff and the private and public education and healthcare facilities throughout the islands
Participants: Faculty from Emory Department of Rehabilitation Medicine Minister of Health and Education. Leaders of government and private organizations
Interventions: We produced a report of the strengths and weakness of the island, the ability to correct the weakness and hteir ability adn wilingness to deploy the needed resources to address the diabiling of the world
Main Outcome Measures: Report Handed tot he Minister of Health Suggestions for interventions to make significant changes in the healthcare and education systems of the islands
Results: Conslusions and needed changes to obtain the capacity to face upcoming health challenges
Conclusions: The poster will outline the formation of the First WHO Center in a Rehabilitation Department in the US. Our Department was able to collaborate with teh WHO and PAHO leadership and to assess the Bahamas and suggest meaningful changes in their healthcare and education systems
