Joseph F. Rath, PhD, is Associate Director for Psychology Research at NYU-Rusk Rehabilitation. He is a past President of the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Division of Rehabilitation Psychology, a past Chair of APA’s Committee on Disability Issues in Psychology, and a Fellow of APA. A member of the editorial board of the journal Rehabilitation Psychology, he has served as a scientific peer-reviewer for the DoD, NIDILRR; and the French National Research Agency. Currently funded through grants from NIDILRR, NINDS, and NSF, he is a recipient of the Harold Yuker Award for Research Excellence and the Roger G. Barker Distinguished Research Contribution Award from APA’s Division of Rehabilitation Psychology. His major clinical and research interests include integrating emotional self-regulation and problem-solving approaches for individuals living with medically unexplained symptoms due to mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), Gulf War Illness, and Long COVID; neuroimaging correlates of persistent symptoms following MTBI; and sociocultural diversity issues in TBI rehabilitation.
