Speech Language Pathologist
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Rehabilitation Institute
I am a medical speech language pathologist working in the adult outpatient setting for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). I specialize in providing culturally competent care to patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP), and traumatic brain injury. I am a proficient Spanish speaker and hold Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) credentialing. My primary interests lie in LEP patients with acquired brain injuries, and my current research aims to improve methods for rehabilitation treatment with interpreters.
I maintain active licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in the states of Pennsylvania and California. I have over six years of clinical experience as a medical speech language pathologist working primarily in inpatient rehabilitation, acute care hospital, and outpatient settings. I also have experience with virtual service delivery with both monolingual and LEP pediatrics in Spanish. My undergraduate degree is from the Pennsylvania State University in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Spanish, and my master’s degree is from the University of Pittsburgh in Speech Language Pathology.
