Marial Biard, MM, MT-BC, is an interanationally awarded clinician, auther, and researcher working at Texas Children's Hospital as the Acute Care Music Therapist and Education Director. Marial earned her Music Therapy Board Certification after completing her graduate work at Colorado State University. She gained her Neurologic Music Therapist certification in 2014 and became the first Pediatric Neurologic Music Therapy Fellow in the world in 2019. Marial has been invited to present across the globe and thrives in the intersections of neurology, music therapy, and pediatrics. Most recently speaking in Rome, Italy regarding innovative access to music and mindfulness for pediatric palliative care patients. While in Rome Marial was awarded the Les Amis Young Research for 2022. An active member of American Music Therapy Association, Marial gives back to her field by serving as the National Co-Chair of the Pediatric Work Group as well as Assembly Delegate representing the Southwest Region. Marial’s research has been published in peer reviewed establishments such as the Journal of Music Therapy and Clinical Pediatrics. She is excited about recent research efforts regarding co-treatment with rehabilitative therapies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a newly published study regarding contingent singing with infants. Marial gained recognition in her field when she was awarded the 2018 AMTA Harmony Award for her work regarding National Disaster Relief and Psychosocial First Aid intervention. She was selected as Texas Children’s Super Star Employee in 2018 by her peers for significant contribution to patient and family experience at end of life.
