Recreation Therapist
West Park Healthcare Centre
Kandace Assivero, R/TRO is presently working as a Recreation Therapist for West Park Healthcare Centre with a specialized focus on offering services to patients belonging to the chronic assisted ventilatory care (CAVC) and long-term ventilation (LTV) units. She also works on a casual on-call basis as a Recreation Therapist for Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre working on the adult mental health inpatient unit as well as in child and youth mental health.
Kandace also carries a background in Sport Management havig worked for the Toronto Marlies and the Toronto Blue Jays. Kandace is passionate about providing education and increased advocacy regarding the power of sport to help drive communities and empower individuals of all abilities as well as increasing access to sport for marginalized groups.
Kandace has been a key contributor to the Adapted Gaming program at West Park Healthcare Centre since the program’s inception. The program has encouraged continued interdisciplinary collaboration and has helped strengthen the therapeutic bons between patients and practitioners.
