Ronald T. Seel, PhD, FACRM, is Professor and Vice-chair of Research in the Department of PM&R, VCU School of Medicine. Dr. Seel is Executive Director of the Center for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering (CERSE) a VCU-wide center that facilitates interdisciplinary rehabilitation research across VCU Schools, Central Virginia Veterans Healthcare System (CVVHS), Sheltering Arms Institute, and national academic, private sector, and not-for-profit collaborators. In 2023, CERSE has 67 faculty and staff, 59 grants, and $110M in total awards. He is Project Director of the Virginia TBI Model Systems Center grant and Co-Project Director of the Virginia SCI Model Systems Center grant. Dr. Seel chairs the ACRM Evidence and Practice Committee and is Treasurer on the International Brain Injury Association Board of Directors. He previously was O. Wayne Rollins Director of Brain Injury Research at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA and Associate Director of Research for the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center in Richmond, VA. Dr. Seel is the recipient of the ACRM 2010 Deborah Wilkerson Early Career Award, 2012 Distinguished Member Award, and 2020 Edward Lowman Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Research Award.
