PhD Student
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Urbana, Illinois, United States
As a Graduate Research Assistant in the Health Promotion and Rehabilitation Lab at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, I work with local, state, and national organizations to recruit participants with chronic conditions (such as diabetes, obesity, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and breast cancer) to community-based participatory studies. The research is multidisciplinary, team oriented, and mixed method. In this context I have supervised undergraduate and graduate students from engineering, community health, and economics, worked with people with chronic conditions and medical doctors, coordinated with food pantry managers and staff, implemented systematic qualitative analyses and scoping literature reviews, and conducted quantitative analysis. As a PhD student in Social Work, I have completed more than 10 courses in statistics, including but not limited to advanced biostatistics, structural equation modeling, hierarchical linear analysis, and machine learning. I have also completed specialized trainings at the Max Planck Insitute for Demography, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. My interdisciplinary practice skills, team leadership, academic and research curiosity, and commitment to advancing social justice in issues of health makes me a great candidate for ACRM.
