Minmei Shih, PhD, OTR/L is an occupational therapist and a research scientist in University of Pittsburgh with expertise in functional outcomes measurement and neurorehabilitation interventions for people with central nervous system diseases and injuries, as well as people with blindness and low vision. Shih had extensive research experiences in validating functional outcome measures of activities of daily living and examining the feasibility and clinical utility of the implementation of stroke telemedicine in rural communities. Shih led many qualitative improvement projects while she practiced in the inpatient and outpatient neurological rehabilitation settings. As a research scientist, Shih is engaged in a series of studies exploring innovative intervention methods to improve quality of care across the rehabilitation care spectrum, as well as intervention elements that impact functional recovery in activity and participation among adults who have sustained stroke, brain injury, and low vision. Shih also has strong skills in in scientific laboratory management, study coordination, and research personnel training and supervision. In collaborating with the Encompass Health, Shih had served as a research coordinator and statistician on previous projects focused on innovative rehabilitation interventions that impact “real world” clinical practice.
