Dr. Gloria M. Morel Valdés is an early-career Assistant Professor and Neuropsychologist in the Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Morel Valdés earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from La Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico and a Master’s of Science and Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Albizu University-Miami with an emphasis in Neuropsychology. Her clinical focus is in neuropsychological assessments of individuals with neurological and psychiatric diseases. Dr. Morel Valdés also focuses in advancing services for individuals from diverse cultural groups. In her brief time as faculty, she has established Multicultural Clinics specializing in the assessment of patients from diverse cultural groups. Her research interest includes cross-cultural neuropsychology and health care disparities among Native American and Hispanic/Latinx populations with cerebrovascular disease and traumatic brain injuries. She is also particularly interested in the development of neuropsychological norms in Latin-American populations inside and outside the United States.
