I am the Practice Chief of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center and a full time employee of the Medical Center. I have sub-specialized in amputee rehabilitation since graduating residency, and currently serve as the Medical Director of the Northeastern Regional Amputee Center in the Amputee System of Care of the VA. As a practicing Physiatrist I have more than 20 yrs of experience in treating individuals with amputations. I have contributed to countless studies designed to improve the care of amputee patients in the USA, including the most recent design of a reaccreditation system for sub-acute rehabilitation centers; have personally authored/assisted in several Medicare policies; and have served as a Medical Director at a major New York City nursing home. In my role, both nationally and as Practice Chief at my Medical Center, the design and safety of exercise programs for patients with amputations, is a daily responsibility.
