Kate Minick is the Director of Research & Quality for Rehabilitation Services at Intermountain Healthcare and an Assistant Professor for Clinical Investigation. She graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2009 from the University of Evansville and completed her PhD at the University of Utah in 2019. She is currently an investigator on the PCORI OPTIMIZE Trial for patients with chronic low back pain. She is also funded by LeaRRn to study team-based musculoskeletal care, the Healthcare Delivery Institute to examine nurse-navigation for spine care, and the Greater Plains Collaborative Clinical Research Network to study PROMIS implementation. Her research interests focus on the value of physical therapy in a changing healthcare environment and the implementation of best practices. She has served on multiple workgroups creating orthopedic care processes and quality review audits for Intermountain Healthcare. She is currently a member of Intermountain’s Research Leadership Team and the APTA’s Scientific and Practice Affairs committee and Council of Health Systems. She is a regular contributor to JOSPT’s Perspectives for Practice published alongside Clinical Practice Guidelines.
