Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Dept. Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy
Houston, Texas, United States
I am a graduate of the University of Rochester School of Nursing BSN program and from the University of Texas Health Science School of Nursing MSN program. Since 2004, I have been in a APRN role with the department of Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Throughout my professional career, I have been part of many collaborative efforts including international multidisciplinary care with the Japan Team Oncology program since 2008 and helped to develop the APP program at the International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy’s annual conference form 2018-2021. At MD Anderson, I have collaborated with our institution’s rehabilitation teams treating and assessing for early signs in debilitation, fatigue, and other factors that have led to their deconditioning in Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) recipients. Most recently, this multi-departmental effort led to the creation on an enhanced recovery program for SCT patients. Focusing on vulnerable and higher risk SCT patients in developing frailty and worse overall outcomes, I helped to co-create clinical pathways and a stand along clinic for early diagnosis and interventions entitled Enhanced Recovery Stem Cell Transplant (ER-SCT). We are expanding this program to include younger patients, Autologous SCT recipients, and CAR – T cell recipients. I have recently co-authored ER-SCT program related manuscripts in “Transplantation and Cellular Therapy” and “JCO Oncology Practice” journals and presented previously at ACRM in 2019 and 2022.
