Advanced Research Fellow
VA Palo Alto Healthcare System
Mountain View, California, United States
Victoria Liou-Johnson, PhD, MS, is currently a VA OAA Fellow in the Polytrauma Department at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and clinical neuropsychologist whose research under the mentorship of Dr. Maheen Adamson has been focused on not only the neural correlates and cognitive outcomes of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation after traumatic brain injury (TBI), but also racial/ethnic and gender differences, access to care, and health equity after brain injury. Her research utilizes interdisciplinary collaboration (e.g., neuroscience, neuroimaging, physical and rehabilitation medicine, neurosurgery, social work) to explore these topics. As a researcher and clinician, she is particularly interested in the translational implications and implementation of her research to improve current treatments and outcomes, especially for underserved populations.
Victoria is also currently a Design, Innovation, and Clinical Entrepreneurship Fellow in the Clinical Excellence Research Center at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, where she is working to redesign the healthcare delivery for children with complex medical conditions to improve overall outcomes, health equity, and lower total cost. Victoria also teaches in Palo Alto University’s graduate clinical psychology programs and enjoys mentoring students of all levels. Lastly, Victoria maintains a small private practice, which focuses on culturally conscious and culturally appropriate trauma treatment for Indigenous and underserved populations.
