Zaccheus J. Ahonle, PhD, CRC, is an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator of the graduate program in Rehabilitation Counseling at Mississippi State University. He holds two master’s degrees and a doctorate in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Ahonle has over 10 years of combined experience working as a certified rehabilitation counselor, counselor educator, and researcher. He is also a Research Affiliate with the Veteran Rural Health Resource Center-Gainesville, North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System, Department of Veterans Affairs.
Dr. Ahonle has a background in information technology and rehabilitation counseling with expertise in using rehabilitation/health data and both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to improve employment, return to work or school, independent living, home-modification, and community integration outcomes for persons with disabilities.
Dr. Ahonle is interested in research that addresses the unique needs of special populations such as Veterans, transition-aged youths, and racial and ethnic minorities with cognitive impairment/chronic illness/neurological disabilities such as traumatic brain injury (TBI). He is also interested in research that explores the use of tele-technologies to advance equity through increased access and utilization of vocational rehabilitation services and outcomes for persons with disabilities.
