Dr. Shlee S. Song is Vice Chair of Systems Integration and Professor, in the Department of Neurology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. She is the Medical Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at Cedars-Sinai and Torrance Memorial Medical Center and directs the Primary Stroke Center at Marina Del Rey Hospital and Providence Cedars Sinai Tarzana Medical Center.
Dr. Song is a board-certified vascular neurologist who completed her clinical and research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and neurology residency training at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr Song served on several NIH and industry trial steering committees and served as PI on multicenter stroke trials.
In 2015, Dr. Song developed a telemedicine network that delivers acute stroke care to screen patients for emergency stroke treatment and clinical trials at Cedars Sinai network hospitals. In 2022, over 2200 stroke codes were covered by the CS Telestroke Team with over 200 patients receiving lytic treatment and over 130 thrombectomy cases treated across the 3 hospitals. For stroke systems of care, she co-directs the Los Angeles Stroke Society with physician leaders at USC and UCLA, in coordination with the LA County EMS Medical Director.
In Dr. Song’s teaching role in the department of neurology, she established the ACGME Vascular Neurology Fellowship Program at Cedars-Sinai in 2013, training many stroke neurologists that practice in the region and across the US. She currently serves as Special Section Editor in the AHA Stroke journal in digital media.
