Derrick Onate earned his Bachelor's in Kinesiology from the State University of New York at Cortland and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas Woman's University-Dallas. He has worked in multiple settings including Inpatient, Outpatient, and Post Acute Day Treatment for over 5 years with individuals recovering from various neurological disorders. He has utilized various technologies throughout his clinical practice including Exoskeletons, FES Cycles, and Body Weight Support Systems to maximize patient outcomes through evidence based best practices. He received his Board Certification in Neurologic Physical Therapy from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2021 and is a current member of the APTA Frontiers in Rehabilitation, Science, and Technology Council Steering Committee. Derrick joined ReWalk Robotics in 2021 as a Clinical Training Manager to help educate clinicians on incorporating advanced technology into clinical practice for improved outcomes, as well as the benefits of community exoskeleton use in the spinal cord injury population.
