Stephanie R. Cimino, MSc (she/her/hers)

Stephanie R. Cimino BASc (Honors), MSc is a PhD candidate in the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute at the University of Toronto. She is co-supervised by Dr Sander Hitzig and Dr. Sara Guilcher. Prior to completing her PhD, she received her Bachelor of Applied Science in Kinesiology and her Master of Science degree in Biomechanics. After working in various positions as a research analyst both with the Sunnybrook Research Institute and University of Toronto, she discovered a passion for conducting research in individuals with limb loss. She is particularly interested in how this population conceptualizes their quality of life and long-term community outcomes.

For her dissertation topic, she is working on developing a patient-reported outcome (PRO) on quality of life for people with lower limb loss. Currently, there are no dedicated PRO’s on quality of life in this patient population, and the development of this measure will provide clinician’s and decision-makers a better understanding of the challenges of living with limb loss from the patient perspective. Stephanie is also active in a number of quantitative and qualitative projects that work to identify the long-term health outcomes of individuals aging in the community a disability.
