Janet Herbold PT, PhD, MPH, CHC is the Vice President of Post-Acute Services at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. She is responsible for overseeing the Prospective Payment System (PPS) compliance and Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) regulations. She works directly with Burke’s screening and admitting staff as well as the acute care referring hospital to identify patients in need to post-acute services and facilitates the match between patient need and setting. She manages the contracts and service agreements for therapy provided to networked SNF facilities.
She has developed outcome tools to provide information on the impact of care at each of the post-acute settings.
Janet has received her BS in physical therapy from SUNY Upstate Medical Center, an MA in Motor Learning from Columbia University, Teachers’ College, MPH from New York Medical College and completed her doctoral degree at Nova Southeastern University.
She served in various clinical and administrative capacities across the continuum of care for over 30 years with a focus on improving clinical and healthcare outcomes for patients through the use of standardized assessment tools and quality metrics. Through her educational and professional endeavors, Janet has demonstrated a commitment to patient care and quality through direct patient care as well as research that has been the focus of lectures and peer-reviewed articles published in professional journals. She uses outcome tools delivered in skilled nursing facilities, outpatient and acute rehabilitation facilities and has identified predictors for determining discharge disposition and functional outcomes for specific clinical conditions such as stroke and orthopedics (hip fx, THR, and TKR).
In addition, she is the Corporate Compliance Officer for the hospital and integral in managing and oversight for the inpatient rehabilitation facility reimbursement system and ensuring compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
