Dr. Karmarkar is a professor in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, School of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University and Director of Research at Sheltering Arms Institute. Dr. Karmarkar is a health services researcher, clinically trained as an Occupational Therapist, with advanced training in health services and policy research, public health and Epidemiology. My research expertise are related to health services research with a focus on utilization of health services in acute, postacute, and community-based settings and outcomes related to receipt of these services for Veterans and Civilians.
