After finishing an internship at Yale in Internal Medicine and a residency at Baylor in PM&R, Dr.
Spier moved back to his hometown of El Paso, TX to practice. While there he developed a brain
injury program for patients in the inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings. Dr. Spier
managed a spectrum of services from spasticity management to medical direction and program
development. He moved to Denver in 2016 to work at Craig Hospital and has since taken over
as Director of the Brain Injury program. He serves as the Medical Director for both the Brain
Injury Alliance of Colorado and the Academy of Certification for Brain Injury Specialists. He has
worked on boards devoted to developing guidelines for workmen’s compensation in Colorado as
well as for Health Policy and Legislation at the federal level. He is a contributing author in Brain
Injury Medicine text books and participates in research in the model systems setting. His current
interests lie in developing and advancing best practices for behavioral management and
systems of care for people with acquired brain injury. He is currently licensed to practice
medicine in Colorado and Texas
