Dr. Lewis received her Ph.D. in Exercise Science/Rehabilitation Science from the University of South Carolina. She is a physical therapist and board-certified clinical specialist in neurologic physical therapy with experience working in inpatient rehabilitation. Dr. Lewis joined Dr. Aiko Thompson’s lab as a postdoctoral scholar in 2021. She is currently applying operant conditioning to motor evoked potentials of upper extremity muscles to promote recovery of motor function in people with cervical spinal cord injury. Dr. Lewis’ will continue to study novel strategies to promote the recovery of upper extremity function in people with central nervous system damage, including applications of combined neuromodulation techniques and neuroimaging measurement to understand plastic changes occurring in the central nervous system.
