Yuying Chen, MD, PhD (she/her/hers)

Dr. Chen is a Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama. She also presently serves as the Director of the National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center. Dr. Chen’s research focuses on the epidemiology, mortality, and secondary conditions after spinal cord injury (SCI) and has published >90 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Topics in SCI Rehabilitation, Oversight Committee of the NIH SCI Common Data Elements, International SCI Data Set, and International Spinal Cord Society's Prevention Committee. She also serves on the American Spinal Injury Association's Board of Directors. She has been an active member of the ACRM SCI Interdisciplinary Special Interest Group since 2010 and was selected as ACRM Fellow in 2019.
