M. Irma Alvarado, PhD, OT/L, FAOTA is Professor, Brenau University, Ivester College of Health Sciences, School of Occupational Therapy where she teaches in their MSOT and OTD programs in Norcross and Gainesville, GA. Her professional background as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), then as an Occupational Therapist (OT) in acute, subacute, rehabilitation, and out-patient pediatric hospital settings including neonatal intensive care unit and burn unit, community-based practice such as school systems, early intervention, and co-managed an out-patient pediatric clinic practice. Her interests include global health, cccupational therapy practice and education, applied research in pediatric rehabilitation, emerging practice areas including Telehealth. She participates in professional issues, including presenting at World Federation of Occupational Therapy, the American Occupational Therapy Association, Georgia Occupational Therapy Association where she has served on their executive board and as committee member.
