Mayra Sanchez Gonzalez, Ph.D. is a rehabilitation psychologist and assistant professor in the Johns Hopkins Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. In her role as a rehabilitation psychologist, she partners with individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions to address behavioral, cognitive, and emotional challenges that may be barriers to engagement in valued life roles. Her primary areas of scholarly interest include promoting and maintaining the wellbeing of older adults with multiple chronic conditions, particularly older adults from Latinx and immigrant communities. Currently, she collaborates with the Disparities Research Unit in the Department of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital to understand how to maintain the wellbeing of older adults following the completion of acute mental health interventions. Her research is currently supported by a Diversity Supplement through the National Institute on Aging.
