Dr. Gharbo is Clinical Associate Faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PMR) the hub for national military and Veterans Administration concussion research consortium where he serves as a subject matter expert. He has authored publications in neuromuscular electrophysiology and defined a novel approach for Autonomic Rehabilitation in 2020 for a wide array of medical disorders including concussion, cancer fatigue, long COVID, athletic performance and healthcare burnout. Dr. Gharbo gave a keynote address to the 50th Anniversary Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB) national conference.
As an undergraduate Dr. Gharbo became The Ohio State University’s first wrestler to become a walk-on All-American and received the university’s top male scholar athlete award; the Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor. Dr. Gharbo completed his PMR specialty residency training at The Ohio State University Medical Center and since has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award by Physicians for Peace amputee rehabilitation efforts in Turkey & Iraq.
