Peter Behel is a biofeedback practitioner who initiated the Biofeedback Practicum course at Sonoma State University in 1980. Peter's early clinical work was showcased in the 1989 book Biofeedback Frontiers by Lilian Rosenbaum, and also featured in the 1997 No. 1 New York Times bestseller, 8 Weeks to Optimum Health by Andrew Weil. In 1987 Peter began seeing chronic pain sufferers as a member of Mt. Diablo Hospital Medical Center's multi-disciplinary chronic pain treatment program in Concord, CA. In 1991 Peter joined the staff at Community Psychiatric Center (CPC) in Santa Rosa, CA where he facilitated stress management and applied biofeedback for the acute care psychiatric population. In 1998 Peter was a member of a rehabilitation treatment team specializing in repetitive strain injuries (RSI), where he saw Pixar animators.
In 2001 Peter became a member of an interdisciplinary program treating chronic pain sufferers at St. Helena Hospital. In 2012 Peter became a provider for Kaiser Permanente, where he continues to see stress-related, chronic pain and chronic disease referrals. In 2015 Peter became an Adjunct Faculty member at Sonoma State University, where he continues to instruct a course on Biofeedback, Stress Management and Somatic Psychology. He is the author of several articles on applied autonomic regulation.
