Associate Professor
Creighton University
Omaha, Nebraska, United States
Lou Jensen, OTD, OTR/L is an Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Creighton University where she also serves as the Creighton-Regis Hybrid Pathway Coordinator and the Director of Faculty and Staff Development in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. As a clinician educator, Dr. Jensen strives to integrate her teaching, scholarship, service, and clinical expertise into her work. She has found success with this both in the areas of hybrid and distance education as well as neurological rehabilitation, specifically her work teaching, serving, and researching stroke systems of care. Her past and current professional clinical and teaching experiences in neurological rehabilitation, her experience practicing and serving in organizations in both urban and rural settings, and her experiences with educating and mentoring students and colleagues at all levels - in clinical practice, in didactic and clinical courses in professional school, in the Creighton fellowship program, and at many conferences - have prepared her to engage in scholarship which explores innovative practices in stroke rehabilitation, connecting stakeholders to design and improve programs to benefit the health and well-being of clients. She has demonstrated the ability to research and design new programs in areas of high need as evidenced by her work with distance hybrid education and stroke systems of care as part of the Nebraska Stroke Advisory Council Rehabilitation Task Force. Additionally, she continues to strive for excellence in both teaching students and in clinical practice. Various teaching awards and specialty certification related to stroke and Parkinson’s disease attest to that goal.
