Assistant Clinical Professor
University of Missouri, Missouri, United States
Samantha Shea Lemoins is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy (OT) at the University of Missouri, a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L), and Ph.D. Candidate. Her research focuses on the exploration of the role of the Occupational Therapy Practitioner in the Orthopedic setting. Her long-term goal is to increase the utilization of the OT practitioner in the orthopedic setting in a post-acute manner to address the ongoing occupational needs and secondary stress disorders associated with orthopedic injury, improving outcomes and quality of life. This passion for OT in orthopedics was initiated when Samantha became an orthopedic patient herself, allowing her a look into orthopedic rehabilitation through a different lens, sparking her interest and pursuit of impacting the orthopedic population and OT profession on a larger scale. Samantha is currently exploring the ongoing occupational needs of the adult lower-extremity orthopedic trauma patient and the impact of injury on secondary stress disorders and quality of life.
