Dr. Alyssa Phillips has recently completed a post-professional Doctorate of Clinical Science in Occupational Therapy. She is an active member of AOTA, WFOT, the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association (POTA), Occupational Therapy Association of Oregon (OTAO), and the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT). She currently serves as a volunteer in the ASHT Education Division, where she develops course content and implements/coordinates educational activities including, but not limited to, student education sessions and panels.
Dr. Phillips has completed the AOTA Fieldwork Educator Workshop and is credentialed in physical agents and modalities. She has clinical experience in pediatrics, inpatient and outpatient adult rehabilitation, and hand therapy. As a clinician she has focused on non-pharmacological pain management, student engagement through job shadowing & clinical engagement, and upper-extremity rehabilitation in a variety of populations (including neurological, adolescent, and work and industry).
Dr. Phillips has contributed to education at the academic, community, and peer-colleague levels. Her contributions have included education on non-pharmacological chronic pain management, psychosocial considerations in upper extremity rehabilitation, intergenerational considerations between OT & COTA collaboration, OT’s role in chronic oncological pain, and functional training considerations for amputation and prosthetics.
