Dr. Fischer is Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the UICOT Self-Management Faculty Practice in the Occupational Therapy Department at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is co-investigator for two federally funded research grants and is co-author of over 45 articles, 3 book chapters and presented at over 50 national and international conferences. Her scholarly interests include improving self-advocacy and participation for people with disabilities and chronic conditions through occupational therapy self-management interventions; addressing health disparities in clinical service contexts with underserved communities; and the use of technology and task-oriented occupational therapy to promote upper extremity function following stroke.
