Avinash Rajendra is a PhD student in Engineering, concentrating on Computer Science and further specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. His PhD project is based on Vision-Based Robot Manipulation, using Computer Vision and Deep Learning to control assistive robots in the context of improving the daily lives of individuals with physical disabilities. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, he also serves as the instructor of the undergraduate Computer-Science capstone class. Prior to enrolling in the PhD program, Avinash obtained his Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Dec. 2018 and his Bachelor of Science with majors in Astronomy-Physics and Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Madison, Wisconsin, United States in May 2016. Outside of education, Avinash is a former Software Engineer, with over 3.5 years of total experience in that role. He also served as an AI/ML Intern at Samsung Research America in Mountain View, California, United States in the Summer of 2022.
