Kathy Kniepmann is an Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy and Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Her experience as an occupational therapist includes work in child psychiatry, physical rehabilitation (with adolescents & adults), home health, consultation for in-patient psychiatry and nursing homes as well as community health promotion and prevention programming.
As a member of the World Federation of Occupational Therapy, she has collaborated with colleagues internationally. She is on the Executive Board of the International ISIG.
Kathy teaches a course on Images of Disability: Portrayal in Film and Literature using the lenses of Information Literacy and Narrative Medicine. That course analyzes messages from the United States and other countries to promote narrative competence and cross cultural awareness/ cultural humility in understanding of ableism and social acceptance.
