Georgia Sasser is a second-year PhD student in Health Behavior and Health Promotion at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on violence against women and children and its intersection with social determinants of health.
In 2022, Ms. Sasser graduated Summa Cum Laude from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services and Psychology. She completed a Signature Honors Project titled “Find Your Voice: A Signature Honors Project on Sexual Assault Education and Advocacy”, which utilized art and social media to educate young adults about sexual assault. Ms. Sasser worked for Brody School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics as an undergraduate research assistant and clinical research coordinator from May 2020 to August 2022. In this role, she worked on grant-funded and industry-sponsored clinical trials studying sickle cell disease, vaccinations, and social determinates of health.
As a graduate student, Georgia Sasser has contributed to quantitative and qualitative analyses on brain injuries related to violence in the lab of her advisor Dr. Julianna Nemeth. She currently works as a graduate teaching associate and is completing a graduate minor in maternal-child health. After graduation, Ms. Sasser intends to pursue a research scientist track focusing on interpersonal violence at a population level.
