Student
University of Pittsburgh
Eric Shiao is a second-year PhD student in the Bioengineering department at the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University and went on to pursue two Master's degrees. In his first Master's degree, he designed a semi-active walker for the elderly to assist with rehabilitation training as part of his studies in Biomedical and Electronics Information Engineering. Later, he studied at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) for his second Master's degree, focused on machine learning and medical devices. During this time, he focused on applying machine learning models to analyze ultrasound signals to aid injection with a robotic catheter. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD degree and applying machine learning to predict spinal cord injury using limb acceleration signals.
