Clinical Research Associate
Meditech International, Canada
Shayanthan Sornalingam, a recent Canadian-born medical graduate, pursued his education in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. He is currently accumulating invaluable experience under the guidance of a cardiologist in Toronto and as a Clinical Research Associate at Meditech International, Inc. His primary area of interest is emergency medicine, with a profound enthusiasm for trauma medicine, toxicology, and pediatric emergency medicine. Currently, Shayanthan is engaged in a clinical trial titled "Impact of Photobiomodulation on Objective, Physiological Measures of Brain Function in Individuals with Post-Concussion Syndrome." This is a joint study between the Center of Neurologic Studies in British Columbia and Meditech International. In 2020, Shayanthan showcased a meta-analysis study titled "An Integrative Literature Review Regarding the Risk of Early Onset Dementia Among Individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury" at a research symposium in Chicago. This year, he is set to present three posters belonging to various topics at the 100th ACRM conference in Atlanta and a poster at the World Congress of Neurology (WCN) in Montreal, Canada. Shayanthan's introduction to Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) was facilitated by Dr. Ronaldo Santiago, the Research Director at Meditech International. Although PBMT remains relatively obscure in mainstream medicine, Shayanthan is profoundly intrigued by its potential impact on neurological and traumatic conditions. He is eager and enthusiastic about understanding PBMT's clinical applications within the realm of emergency and rehabilitation medicine.
