Professor and Associate Dean for Research
University of Kansas Medical Center
In February 2021, Jacob Sosnoff, Ph.D., joined the University of Kansas Medical Center as the associate dean for research for the School of Health Professions. He also holds a faculty appointment as professor in the school's Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science. His professional background and training are in motor control and gerontology. Sosnoff's research focuses on examining the predictors, prevention, and consequences of mobility impairment in clinical populations including older adults and individuals living with multiple sclerosis. He and his team examine how we move, how to keep us moving and what happens when we don't move well. Having a special interest in the development and refinement of technology capable of measuring our movement, Sosnoff is actively engaged in several ongoing randomized control trials investigating rehabilitation strategies to maximize mobility and minimize fall risk and incidence across the functional spectrum.
