Dr. Jyotsna Pandey is a board certified anatomic and clinical pathologist. She retired from active practice in 2013, and at present focuses on medical education and community health especially related to older adult population.
Her medical career began in India at Banaras Hindu University’s Institute of Medical Sciences, where she received her MBBS and MD (Pathology), and residency training in pathology. In subsequent years’ she specialized in hematopathology and cytopathology practice.
Dr. Pandey’s worked at a number of academic institutions after her residency training in India that include lady Harding Medical College and Sucheta Kriplani Hospital, Lohia Hospital as Assistant Professor of Pathology. She worked at Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjang Hospital, as associate Professor, Professor, an attending physician and Director of the post-graduate residency training program in Clinical pathology. In addition, she supervised research dissertations of more than 30 resident physicians, and was chair of cytopathology. She was also actively involved with the Indian Association of Pathology and Microbiology and worked as assistant editor for the Indian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology and a member of the Executive council of International Academy of Pathology (Indian Division).
After she moved to US, Dr. Pandey worked at Oakland University Rochester, MI, and at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Her areas of research included tumor-induced angiogenesis and factors involved in metastasis in lung cancer. Her love of academic medicine and teaching brought her to Ross University School of Medicine in 2008 and to CMU College of Medicine in 2016. She is a dedicated teacher, and has a passion for improving the teaching learning environment by active learning process and student experiential learning in the community.

Achievements
Dr. Pandey was awarded two World Health Organization (WHO) fellowships—one for technology transfer programs at the Royal Tropical Institute and Academy of Medicine at Amsterdam, Netherlands, and one for electron microscopy training in Thailand. She is also a recipient of the American Association for Cancer Research-Aflac Cancer Research award, the Fellows Award for Research Excellence at the NIH, a Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Mentor at NIH, and Center of Cancer Research certificates of merit.
She has a number of extramural and intramural grant awards over the large part of her career. At present of she has two extramural funded grants from Michigan Health Endowment fund and Region VII Area Agency on Aging, Michigan.
Publications
Dr Pandey has over 60 publications in peer reviewed journals resulting from her clinical work, clinical research and applied pathology research. She has edited books and contributed chapters to books. She has been invited as a speaker to workshops/seminars and has organized seminars for continuing medical education in pathology and cytopathology, including WHO sponsored seminars and workshops, invited speaker at mini symposiums at AACR, and the 11th Congress on Lung Cancer Research. She has moderated symposiums, and organized national meets, conferences, seminars and CMEs.

Dr. Pandey enjoys reading, painting and learning from the cultural diversity of the world as an avid traveler.
