He holds a degree in Physical Therapy from the Federal University of Santa Maria (2004), an MSc (2007), and a PhD (2011) in Neuroscience from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). During his doctorate, he worked at the Laboratory of Comparative Histophysiology of the Institute of Basic Health Sciences - ICBS / UFRGS. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy and a Professor Physiotherapy Graduate Program (PPGFT) at the University of Santa Catarina State (UDESC), Brazil. The Professor has teaching experience in Neurofunctional Physiotherapy and is a permanent teacher of the research line: "Neurofunctional Physiotherapy" of the PPGFT-UDESC. His research focuses on evaluating the functionality in People with Spinal Cord injuries. He is an associate member of the Associação Brasileira de Fisioterapia Neurofuncional (ABRAFIN) and the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS), and a collaborating member of the International Network of Spinal Cord Injury Physiotherapists (SCIPT Network) and the Asociación Latinoamericana y Caribe de la Médula Espinal (ALME-SLAP). He has currently affiliated as an International Visiting Researcher at The University of Sydney, where he made a Post-Doctoral Internship (2022-2023) with the research group of Professor Lisa Harvey at the John Walsh Center for Rehabilitation Research, Kolling Institute, Royal North Shore Hospital, NSW, Australia.
