CRNP Wound and Ostomy
Penn Medicine Rehabilitation
I began my nurse training 30+ years ago in New York City as a R.N.. Most of my career has been treating wounds either in the Home Care, Acute Care, or Long Term Care setting, and in the outpatient Wound Care Clinic (that I helped create). As I became increasingly comfortable with the different types of wounds, etiologies and treatments, I became certified as a wound, ostomy and continence nurse specialist at Emory University, Atlanta Georgia. My passion and expertise continued to grow treating and supporting patients that is has led me to become an Adult Nurse practitioner at Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pa. I currently am in a role working with patients having complex wound care and fistula needs in both a long term and acute care rehabilitation. I never thought pressure injuries can truly be prevented however that thought process has since changed especially over the past few years, since using an interface sensor monitoring system. Over the past few years, while using the sensor, our pressure injury rate decreased favorably. Our new or worsening truncal wounds are just about eradicated and our wounds are consistently and progressively healing. At this point in my career, that has been wonderful experience to be a part of and continue to make change.
