Dr. DeMello is an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas Medical Branch, School of Nursing. She is a population health nurse researcher who focuses on the mental, behavioral, and social health determinants and health sequelae after traumatic injury and firearm violence among adolescents and young adults. She earned a Masters in Public Health from Yale University and BSN/PhD degrees from The University of Texas Health Science Center. She has worked in critical care, public health, and focuses on research and programmatic efforts uniting healthcare and the community.
