Steven Dilkas MD, FRCPC, Dip Sport Med
Dr. Dilkas is a Physiatrist at West Park Healthcare Centre who specializes in Amputee Rehabilitation. He is the medical director of West Park’s WSIB Specialty Clinic for persons with amputation. He is also a Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician and the Chief Medical Officer of the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario, where he cares for Olympic and Paralympic athletes, including those with limb loss. Dr. Dilkas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He has been recognized provincially for excellence in clinical teaching and supervises clinical and research trainees in rotations related to amputation care. He has studied rehabilitation trends after lower limb amputation (LLA) in Canada and is involved in functional and quality of life outcomes research following LLA. He has written and appeared in local and national media to discuss recovery following amputation, prosthetic technologies and the importance of physical activity in this population.
