Shivani Sakthi is a student at the University of California Los Angeles(UCLA) who is majoring in the Physiological Sciences and minoring in Community Engagement and Social Change. Under this academic focus, Shivani hopes to apply her self-motivation, probing curiosity, and compassionate communication as a physician all while revitalizing existing patient care treatments through research. Simultaneously, Shivani strives to reinforce the ability of health infrastructures to provide accessible medical treatments, underscoring her interest in research given intersections between innovation and treatment cost. Currently, Shivani serves as an undergraduate research intern who gathers motor and proprioceptive data with the goal individualizing neurorehabilitation at UCLA’s Stroke Rehabilitation Lab under the direction of Dr. Steven Cramer. Shivani’s research interests include discerning how technologies like tele-rehabilitation may propound stroke rehabilitation and uncovering potential therapeutic targets for chronic kidney disease.
