Principal Research Engineer

Mr. Brian D. Jones is a Principal Research Engineer in the Georgia Tech Institute for People and Technology (IPaT) and Director of the Aware Home Research Initiative at Georgia Tech. In this role, Jones also oversees the Aware Home Living Lab, an IPaT-managed resource on the campus designed to provide an authentic connected home environment in which faculty and students can research, prototype and evaluate innovative applications for residents of all ages and abilities. Over his 25+ years at Georgia Tech, Mr. Jones has developed interactive applications for use in informal learning environments, on smartphones, and in the home. More recently, his primary research interests are in the design and development of technologies to improve health and well-being, enable healthy aging, and increased independence. His current projects explore the connected home, apps, and health interventions to support the needs of older adults and people with disabilities. Mr. Jones holds both a Bachelor's degree (BEE `93) and Masters of Science degree (MS `96) from Georgia Tech in Electrical Engineering.
