Medical Student
UT Southwestern Medical Center
Nashra Javed is a rising fourth-year medical student, class of 2024, at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. With a background in expanding access to free fitness programming in areas with high prevalence of obesity and diabetes, as well as serving as an individual behavior therapist for children on the autism spectrum, she strives to strike a balance between proactive preventative care initiatives and reactive medicinal approaches to maximize improvement in health outcomes. Combining her research in neurodegenerative diseases, chronic pain and musculoskeletal degenerative disease, she has a particular interest in neurofeedback techniques that leverage the brain's plasticity to allow individuals to gain better control over their dynamic neural functioning.
With the interest of shifting focus from illness and disability to optimizing a patient's function and maximizing their quality of life, Nashra will be applying for residency in the field of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation this upcoming fall.
