Jessica Jarvis, PhD, MT-BC is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. She is a health services researcher with clinical experience as a music therapist in pediatrics. After obtaining a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Texas Medical Branch she completed postdoctoral training in pediatric rehabilitation research at the University of Illinois at Chicago and in pediatric neurocritical care and resuscitation research at the University of Pittsburgh. The goal of their program of research is to assure all children and their families have the chance to achieve their best possible health and functioning after critical illness. They work towards this goal through three related lines of inquiry: (1) characterizing functional recovery after critical illness; (2) assessing equity in access to care and care experiences across the care continuum; and (3) developing and testing nonpharmacologic interventions to improve functional outcomes.
