Dr. Viki Neurauter Dr. Neurauter graduated with a B.S. degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Louisiana State University Medical Center- New Orleans in 1993, an MOT degree from Texas Woman’s University in 1996, and a PhD. in Curriculum and Instruction with a Health Promotions option from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2011.
Dr. Neurauter is an Assistant Professor in the MOT program at Radford University Carilion. Her clinical background is primarily in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, ergonomics/body mechanics, and inpatient rehabilitation. She has been teaching Occupational Therapy at the graduate level for over 18 years and, just as with her clients, thrives on providing appropriate educational materials, meeting the students at their level, and providing the “just right challenge”. Dr. Neurauter teaches across the curriculum with an emphasis in the areas of anatomy, kinesiology, research, and psychosocial issues that impact occupational engagement.
Her research interests rest heavily in pedagogical approaches with adult learning theories at the core. She emphasizes Transformational and Experiential Learning theories with attention to Metacognitive and Critical Theory applications. It is her belief that these approaches create knowledgeable, competent, and empathetic Occupational Therapy practitioners with a thirst for continued learning.
